“For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won’t walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won’t fall apart.”

One of the greatest discoveries you can ever make is simply this: His love never fails. There are many kinds of love in this world. C.S. Lewis identified four different words in classical Greek that are translated as the word “love” in English. The word agape means sacrificial, self-forgetful love. The word eros means sexual love. The word philia means the love of friends. The word storge means parental love, especially the nurturing and comforting love of a mother. During the course of our lives, we will experience many if not all of these kinds of love, and if we do we will come to realize that they are not eternal. Those who love us often leave us, and not just because they die. What we need to remember is that there is one love that never walks away—the Father’s undying and steadfast love. His love never fails. Even if the mountains and hills disappear, His covenant love will never be removed. He has promised to love us forever. Let this eternal love be your assurance. Let this unfailing love bring you serenity and peace.
